Describe the market before naming the setup
A pullback in a trend and a reversal inside a range can share a similar candle shape. Begin with the broader structure: swing progression, overlap, boundaries and the relationship between recent moves.
A named setup is a way to organize an observation. It is not a self-contained probability or a reason to ignore conflicting information.
Separate observation from confirmation
A structure may become clear only after later closed candles. In a historical chart, do not assume that the final structure was already known at the earlier pivot. Record when the information became available.
Use a counterexample
Ask what an alternative interpretation would predict. A breakout that falls back into a range challenges the breakout thesis. Repeated overlap can challenge an otherwise attractive trend reading.
Brooks concepts provide a research vocabulary. Historical experience from other markets must not be presented as a verified win rate for this tool, a crypto pair or a particular horizon.
Apply the method, keep its limits visible
